A paranormal group have investigated eerie goings in a Retford cafe toilet after reports of poltergeist activity.
Retford Ghost Hunters recently did a vigil at the 10 Green Bottles in The Square and claim to have captured evidence of ghostly goings on.
They were called to the cafe after the turn-lock on the ladies toilet locked itself “countless times” from the inside – which meant that staff working at the cafe had to continually force the door to gain entry.
The cafe was formerly known as the Half Moon pub and many years ago had a landlord known as ‘Mad Jack’.
The investigation the group claim to have caught a face in the window, the movement of marbles in flour, and the outline of a figure using a lazer grid pen, a strange light anomaly and answers to questions captured from a little girl and her granddad in the cellar.
Manager of the group Rachel Parsons said: “We did not feel anything malevolent, they had been getting poltergeist activity.
“Things have flown off shelves, things like that.”
“As an experiment we left marbles on the floor in flour which showed that the marbles had moved.
“Our historian found out that it had a landlord known as Mad Jack who got into tempers. There could be a link here.
“It is a very active place – we even managed to capture a face in the window and had amazing intelligent answers to questions on the voice recorder.”
However despite the reported activity in the toilet Rachel said it was the cellar that was the most active place.
They also investigated the cellar with a Paratek, a device that uses radio waves to generate words where they think they managed to detect the presence of a little girl and her granddad
The group currently has an 11 member investigation team, and a number of people who do background research and includes two mediums.
The group uses a number of scientific methods to make contact with the ‘other side’.
These include an Electromagnetic Field Meter, which detects movement, and an Electronic Voice Phenomenon recorder, which detects sounds.
Rachel said they don’t do deal with Ouija boards or do seances’.
