A team of ghost hunters filming their new Amazon Prime TV show in Chester have encountered a string of bizarre happenings during their time in the city.
The Haunted Hunts team have been visiting different parts of the city to film the second series of their show The Haunted Hunts – Civitas Spirituum, which sees them investigating landmark locations in the city and speaking to local people who have experienced ghostly encounters.
As Chester is known for its various haunted happenings, they were interested to find out more but weren’t expecting the strange experience they encountered.
It started off when they received a phone call from a mystery woman, thought to be Chester Ghost Tour Guide Mary Ann Cameron, who asked the team to meet her on the Rows that night but refused to give any details.
When they met her in what lead investigator Danny Moss described as ‘one of the strangest meetings we’ve ever had’, she claimed to have seen eight ghosts on the Rows before mysteriously disappearing.
Knowing actual ghost sightings are actually quite rare, the sceptical team found the whole thing ‘extremely dodgy’ but decided to head back to the Rows the next night with a thermal imaging camera which measures heat sources and cold spots as well as a full spectrum camera which takes pictures using all light sources.
Danny told CheshireLive: “None of the team expected anything to happen at all because we were all very sceptical about the stories of the Rows but upon reviewing the pictures we took on the full spectrum camera we realised that we had actually captured one of the most amazing pieces of evidence we’ve ever caught.
“I was taking three pictures every 10 seconds on the full spectrum camera and after taking hundreds of pictures there was one set of three that really stood out.
“We have clearly captured what appears to be a lady in what looks like a Victorian morning dress and what’s even more amazing about this is that when the figure appears it actually sets off a motion sensor light on the Rows,” he added.
“We have the three pictures in order and we show on the episode that it appears in the second picture and not the first or third. To back this up we were also filming at the exact moment this was captured and it clearly shows that no one is on the Rows at the time so it can’t possibly be a person.”
Danny says the team have tried to ‘debunk’ the findings but cannot find any ‘rational explanation at all’ due to the fact it only appears in one of the three pictures that were taken in those 10 seconds.
“It was very unexpected, we had no idea we had captured it at the time it was only whilst reviewing the pictures later that night at our hotel room that we realised what we had captured,” he said.
Other locations the team have filmed at are the ‘Ye Olde Kings Head’ on Lower Bridge Street where they captured poltergeist activity which gave Danny and team member Emma ‘a real shock’ when an unseen presence actually moved a cup in the room where a sword was uncovered under the floor back in the 1930s.
They also captured some ‘electronic voice phenomena’ and uncovered other ‘mindblowing’ findings at other places in the city they are keeping to themselves until the show airs on Amazon Prime in early 2020.
Viewers will have to wait until the show comes out to see the apparition but Danny added: “We cannot wait for everyone to see what we have captured.”
