Spooky season is here.

Whether your idea of Halloween fun is haunted houses and heart-pounding frights or corn mazes and pumpkin trails, there’s something for everyone in this neck of the woods who’s looking to celebrate the season.

Here’s a roundup of a few go-to Halloween destinations in Greater Fall River and beyond to check out with family and friends — if you dare. See what scary and silly things lurk at these local spots.

Fear Town, located at 1710 Fall River Ave., Seekonk, is one of the most popular haunts in the SouthCoast region.

Where: 1710 Fall River Ave., Seekonk

When: Opening weekend Sept. 24 and 25; Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting Oct. 1

Its name speaks for itself. Located deep in the woods of Seekonk Speedway, Fear Town is among the must-see haunts in Massachusetts.

After closing last year amid COVID, Fear Town summoned its ghosts and ghouls as it returns to offer fans a whole new horrifying experience in 2021. They have undergone some major changes since they last welcomed willing victims into their haunt.

Among the most notable changes this year is the shift from one 45-minute-long experience to multiple attractions to explore. Guests will walk with bated breath through three haunted buildings, each with their own unique theme — from Mr. Snozzer’s Traveling Circus to The Prey to and Zombie Energy — and bone-chilling scares.

To make your night of fear complete, Fear Town also has a midway full of all-new games and entertainment to enjoy before, in-between and after the haunted houses. Ghoulish activities featured include 4D Asylum Experience; Axe Throwing; Lifesize Operation; Hangbar Challenge; Skeleton Basketball; Wax Hands; Victorian Eyeball Pong; Casket Ring Toss; and Break-a-Plate.

Fear Town’s season kicks off Sept. 24 and 25, and starting Oct. 1 they are open Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday through Halloween.

Fear Town uses a timed ticketing system to avoid wait times, so guests are free to roam the midway, take part in games and concessions, until it’s time to get in line.

Hours of operation and prices vary, so check the website at  https://www.fear-town.com/about/hours/ for available dates and times.
