A program set for this weekend will explore the haunted tales of Southern Illinois.

Haunted Southern Illinois will be presented at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, in the Schweinfruth Museum at the Jefferson County Historical Village, 1411 N. 27th St.

Kari Dillingham is a teacher at Centralia High School, who started using spooky stories to keep her students engaged in local history. She will speak about some of Southern Illinois’ most famous haunted people and places, including Kaskaskia Island and the Old Slave House, also known as the Crenshaw House.

There is no cost to attend, but donations will be accepted.
