LOCK HAVEN — October will hold plenty of spooky and fascinating fun at the Ross Library. Beginning on tonight at 6 p.m., you can learn a new craft. If your house isn’t haunted this Halloween, make a ghost yourself! The Ross Library will hold a lesson on how to make decorative ghosts from milk jugs. This crafting session will be held in the Sloan Room on the second floor of the library. Supplies will be provided. Due to space constraints, registration is preferred (though not required.)
A new local history class is being held at the Ross Library. Until May 2022, historian Lou Bernard will hold monthly talks about Clinton County’s history, covering a different area each month. The program will be held Oct. 14 at 7 p.m., with a lesson on the history of Beech Creek, and will continue at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. November’s class is Chapman Township, and December is Wayne Township.
Pre-registration and pre-payment is required for the haunted tours at the Ross Library this year. For COVID reasons, no walk-ins are permitted. Sponsored by the Lock Haven Paranormal Seekers, paranormal investigator Lou Bernard will give tours of Lock Haven, detailing some of the hauntings in the community. The tours will be $5 per person, and money will be donated to benefit the Ross Library.
The tours will be held at 7 p.m. nightly from Oct. 18 to Oct. 30, with special 11 p.m. tours on the Saturday nights. Call Lou Bernard at 570-748-3321 to reserve your spots.
The library welcomes everyone into the monthly book club, the Book Brigade. On the last Saturday of each month unless otherwise announced, the club meets at 10 a.m. to discuss a book and its related topics, drink coffee, and socialize. On Oct. 30, it will be Ruth Ware’s “The Turn of The Key,” on Nov. 27, it’s “Elevation” by Stephen King, and on December 18, “The Christmas Train” by David Baldacci.
Until further notice, due to COVID protocols, masks are required at ALL library events.
